Enabled by my note-review plugin Resurface (public beta coming up), I went through some of my oldest digital notes from around 15 years ago. Having this wide range of past thoughts conserved in a shared medium has a weird effect. Old physical notebooks have patina and carry more from the past with them, while old digital notes appear just like something written yesterday. In a way, the thoughts carried over by old digital notes feel closer, like having a text message conversation with your past self.
